Join our garden club, where gardening enthusiasts gather for knowledgeable speakers, advice, plant sales, tours, and more.

The Wright County Horticultural Society is a garden club based in Buffalo, Minnesota, established in 1978. The club is dedicated to sharing knowledge of horticulture and new gardening techniques. We unite gardening enthusiasts of all ages who are passionate about nurturing plants and enhancing horticulture within our community through monthly meetings and knowledgeable speakers.

We meet monthly from March to December. In the spring and fall (March-April, August-November), we host experienced speakers at our meetings and the public is welcome to attend. These presentations are on the second Monday of the month, at 6:30 pm at Buffalo Covenant Church, located at 1601 Hwy 25 N, Buffalo, Minnesota. (We meet at a church even though we are not a religious organization.) After the speaker, we have a business meeting with snacks.
During the summer, June & July, we meet at a private or public garden for a tour. You must be a member to attend. Please contact us to join, and get the address and date.
In December, we meet on the second Monday of the month for a private holiday party with a potluck. You must be a member to attend. Please contact us to join.

At our garden club, we host experienced and knowledgeable speakers to share the latest techniques in gardening and provide valuable horticulture advice. Our sessions have covered a variety of topics for gardening enthusiasts, including effective techniques to preserve your fall harvest by drying and canning vegetables, growing plants in straw bale gardens with Joel Karsten, bee keeping with Gregg Hermerding and John Jarvela (pictured here), maple syrup production by St. Johns University, grass-fed beef farming from Thousand Hills, and animal biology presented by naturalist Stan Tekiela (see more on Past Events). If you would like to suggest a speaker or offer a presentation to our club, please Contact Us.

In the summer, June and July, our garden club travels around Wright County and Minnesota to explore beautiful gardens. Our members, who are true gardening enthusiasts, may host visitors at their homes, or we may organize trips to public gardens (you must be a member and contact us to get the date and address).
In this picture, we visited Bettie Ann at the Gardens of Rice Creek in Fridley, MN. She is a life-long commercial grower specializing in cold-hardy plants. She is passionate about rhododendrons, and offers valuable horticulture advice. If you would like to attend a garden tour, or know of a garden you'd like to visit, please reach out.

Start your garden, or add to it, by shopping at our annual indoor Plant Sale in Buffalo, Minnesota! Our members provide plants from their own gardens. Plants for sale often include an assortment of perennials, annuals, flowers, vegetables, tomatoes, peppers, seedlings, shrubs, and trees. We may also have a small assortment of used tools, pots, decorations, and other garden supplies for sale. Pay by cash or check.
The plant sale is open to the public and we encourage everyone to attend. It is a great opportunity for gardening enthusiasts to buy plants, meet fellow garden friends, and learn more about our local garden club.
Help spread the word! Download the flyer below. Saturday, 5/16/2026 from 830-11am at Buffalo Covenant Church.
The plant sale is our only fundraiser. Funds are used to pay for speaker fees and club expenses. The sale is in May, typically on a Saturday morning. For more info or to get involved with the club, please reach out.

Gardens bring families together. Spouses often work on gardens as a team. Parents teach their children how to reap what you sow, while Grandparents teach their grandchildren how to play in the dirt. Join the club as a couple or family or household to save on membership fees. Come to the meetings together for an educational date night or family time. Your entire household can enjoy the speakers and learn valuable horticulture advice. It's a great opportunity for gardening families to connect.
